This was supposed to be a two-day drilling job. Then we hit the rock.

What looked simple turned into roughly two weeks of rock core drilling. Our crew adjusted to the conditions, kept the equipment working, and stayed with the project.

The Assignment

Foundation caisson drilling for the expansion of a major Northern Colorado detention facility.

Perez Drilling Co. performed drilled caisson foundation work for the Larimer County Jail expansion in Fort Collins, Colorado. The project required drilled foundations as part of a major public-sector construction program.

Foundation drilling is one of the first critical operations in structural construction. The work must follow the engineered foundation requirements while coordinating with the construction schedule and the trades that follow.

The overall project involved JE Dunn Construction as general contractor and DLR Group as the design firm. Perez Drilling's scope was foundation caisson drilling.

The Assignment

Drilled caisson foundations for a 130,000-square-foot commercial retail development.

In 2000, Perez Drilling performed caisson foundation drilling for the new Home Depot development at 393 South Hover Road in Longmont, Colorado. The project involved Haselden Construction and the construction of a 130,000-square-foot retail facility.

Large commercial buildings depend on properly constructed foundations. Drilled caissons must meet the engineered requirements for location, diameter, depth, and bearing conditions before subsequent foundation construction can proceed.

Perez Drilling's responsibility was the drilled foundation work supporting construction of the retail building. The project remains part of our foundation drilling history along Colorado's Northern Front Range.
